My Photographic Journey…

I first fell in love with photography when I joined my high school photography club in Montreal. I would spend hours in the darkroom watching images magically appear in the soft glow of the safelight. I was hooked! This interest appealed to both my artistic and technical nature. From there I studied Commercial Art at Studio 5316 and also enrolled at the Montreal School of Photography.

As luck would have it my aunt's neighbour's son was the project photographer of Acres Canadian Bechtel at Churchill Falls, Labrador and needed a darkroom assistant. Within days I found myself on a small plane landing at the private airport at the company's power project.

In the 90s I was a photojournalist at The Garrison Post weekly magazine in Cornwall, Ontario. I loved meeting people and writing their stories. Alas, that period of my life ended when my employer suddenly declared bankruptcy.

Photography has always been one of my passions. When digital photography had matured and my son's wedding approached I bought my first Sony, the A350. Since then I've enjoyed photographing landscapes, portraits, weddings and interesting people I meet, with my Sony a7R.
